Transcending Frontiers: Reflections of Transhumanist Ideals in Literature and Translation sheds light into how transhumanist philosophy and the basic tenets behind this notion are reflected in literature and in translation of fiction addressing transhumanist ideals amidst the social, educational, economic, engineering, medical, technological, or scientific leaps we have been witnessing particularly since the advent of the new millennium. As the human brain has been in a constant act of change and development and accordingly continues to advance new scientific and technological miracles to be able to transcend all its relevant constraints and enhance its potential to the highest degree, such efforts have inevitably brought about drastic changes, or transformations, in social structures all over the world. All these innovations have also naturally found their way to the artistic productions of almost all cultures, with literature taking the lead among those artistic endeavors in reflecting the society it is rooted in, which makes up the major tenet of Transcending Frontiers: Reflections of Transhumanist Ideals in Literature and Translation. The recent technological and scientific developments and efforts at humans’ enhancement are sought and discussed in this book based on the analyses of selected literary texts. With the shared goals and ideals of “transhumanism” and the act of “translation”, both directed towards transcending the frontiers, discussion of the transhumanist signs is further extended to the analysis of literary translation of contexts with transhumanist ideals. Hence, the transhumanist path enlightened by science and technology is brought to the light through the analyses of transhumanist literature in Transcending Frontiers: Reflections of Transhumanist Ideals in Literature and Translation, which is expected to help transcend the boundaries of idea(l)s empowering the tripartite synergy of “transhumanism”, “fiction”, and “translation”.
